THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE C.Y. SOMAYAJULU

Hon’ble Sri Justice C.Y. Somayajulu, born on 20th July, 1946 in a family of Advocates – Grandfather Late Sri C.Y. Somayajulu and father late Sri C.S. Prakasa Rao were famous Advocates and Leaders of Bar at Narsapur, West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, India. Had the School Education at Tylor High School, Narsapur and College Education at Layola College, Vijayawada and obtained B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Physics - Studied B.L., in the University Law college, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, stood first in the University and was awarded Gold Medal.

Did the apprenticeship in the Chambers of late Sri B.V. Subrahmanyam, the then Advocate General and enrolled as an Advocate in 1967 and started practising with father. Also practised at Bhimavaram after Sub-court was established and at Palakol – Was the Standing Counsel for some Banks and Companies.

Worked as part time Lecturer in Mercantile Law at Y.N. College, Narsapur.

Was appointed as District Judge grade-II in 1986 and worked in Warangal, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda Districts – Later worked as Secretary to Government (Legal Affairs) – Worked as Chief Judge, City Small Causes Court, Hyderabad – Also worked as Registrar (Judicial), Registrar (Administration) and Registrar General in the High Court of A.P. Appointed as Addl. Judge of A.P. High Court on 17.5.1999 and as Judge w.e.f. 20.4.2000. Retired on attaining the age of superannuation w.e.f. 20.7.2008 F.N.
