HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE BILAL NAZKI

Born on 18th November, 1947 at Srinagar, State of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Obtained Law Degree from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 1973 and joined Bar at Srinagar. Practised in the High Court as well as in the Subordinate Courts on original and appellate side. Also appeared before the Honourable Supreme Court. Worked as the Legal Advisor to various State Government undertakings. Served as Lecturer in faculty of Law in the Kashmir University for some time. Became Deputy Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir State in 1986 for some time and was also Advocate General of the State of Jammu and Kashmir from January, 1992 and remained as such till elevated as an Additional Judge of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court on 6th January, 1995. Was also a member of Delimitation Commission constituted under Jammu & Kashmir Representation of Peoples Act for the purpose of delimiting Assembly Constituencies in Jammu & Kashmir. Became Permanent Judge of that Court with effect from 11th December, 1995. Was transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court where assumed office on 15th October, 1997. Worked as President of Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Academy on two occasions and also Chairman of Andhra Pradesh High Court Legal Services Committee. Was Acting Chief Justice of A.P. High Court twice from 4th April, 2005 till 26th November, 2005 and 12th November, 2007 to 6th January, 2008 and Chancellor of National Academy of Legal Studies & Research University (NALSAR) during this period. Was Enquiry Judge of Coal Mine Accidents twice. Was the Executive Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.

Relinquished the office of Judge (ACJ) on his Lordship's transfer as Judge of Bombay High Court on the forenoon of 07.01.2008.
