Hon’ble Sri Justice T.Ch. Surya Rao was born on 15th March, 1946 in Moolasowalapuram village in Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh, India in an agricultural family. He had his School Education in Moolasowalapuram, High School and College at Srikakulam. He obtained Law Degree from Andhra University, enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1973. Practised at Srikakulam for a few months, shifted to Parvathipuram and joined the office of Sri Prakasa Rao, the doyen of the Bar – Managed the Office at Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. Appointed as standing counsel for Endowments at Sub-Court, Parvathipuram and worked for a term. Practised in civil, criminal and Revenue Branches of law at Parvathipuram and Vizianagaram District Court. 1. Appointed as District Judge in February, 1986. 2. Worked as Additional District Judge, Guntur. 3. Special Judge for ACB & SPE Cases, Hyderabad. 4. Special Judge for CBI Cases, Hyderabad. 5. Principal District Judge, Ongole. 6. Special Judge for CBI Cases, Visakhpatanam. 7. District Judge, Machilipatnam. 7. District Judge, East Godavari District and 8. Director, A.P. Judicial Academy from 13.12.1996 to 16.5.1999.
Appointed as Additional Judge, High Court of A.P. on 17.5.1999 and as Judge, High Court of A.P. w.e.f. 20.4.2000. Interested in Games and Sports. Represented Andhra University in Inter University Basket Ball Tournament. Used to play tennis. Retired on 15.03.2008 F.N. on attaining the age of superannuation.
