Hon’ble Sri Justice Gopal Rao Ekbote was born on 1st June, 1912. Educated at Saraswati Bhuvan Middle School, and Government High School. Aurangabad and Osmania University. Enrolled as an Advocate of the Hyderabad High Court on 28th November 1948 and as an Advocate of Supreme Court in 1951. practiced in the beginning in the Munsif Magistrate’s court in Aurangabad District, then in the Subordinate Courts and High Court at Hyderabad. Stated practising in the Andhra Pradesh High Court since the reorganisation of state. Practised mostly on Civil side. Was Minister of Education, Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs in the former Hyderabad State from 26th January, 1954 to 31st October, 1956 and also a Member f the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh for some time.
Appointed as Additional Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court for a period of two years with effect from 7th June, 1962. Permanent Judge from 12th February, 1964.
Appointed chief Justice of A.P. with effect from 1st April, 1972. retired on 1st June, 1974.
